Shark Tooth Fossil - Pack of 10

Fossil Shark Teeth are highly sought after and becoming increasingly rare. The fossil shark teeth come from several different types of ancient sharks including tiger, mako, otodus, lamna, and the well-known megalodon!.

If a shark loses a tooth while biting into something, another tooth from the second row would replace this missing tooth within a few minutes. Thus, many teeth were lost over a lifetime of a shark.

Teeth fossilize through a process called permineralization. As water seeps through sediments over the teeth, it transports the minerals that are found in the sediment. These minerals fill in pore spaces in the tooth causing them to fossilize.

The shark teeth are true fossils. Any fossils including shark teeth, are preserved in sedimentary rocks after falling from their mouth. The sediment that the teeth were found in is used to help determine the age of the shark tooth due to the fossilization process.

impress your friends and family with this genuine fossilized tooth. Be careful of sharp edges. This is not a toy.
