Our elegant translucent pink salt dishes from the Himalayas are made of the highest standard of salt blocks available, and are unbeatable in their beauty, structural integrity, and purity. No two salt blocks are the same so the appearance and/or colours may vary from dish to dish.

 

Hot uses

 

On Gas Range or Grill: heat your Himalayan salt plate on a low flame until warm, then gradually increase the heat to the desired temperature and cook for around 17-20 minutes.

 

In Oven: heat the Himalayan salt plate at 250 degree for 8-10 minutes, then increase to 400F.

 

On Electric Ranges: place salt plate at least ½ inch above the heat element. Start with low temperature and gradually increase to medium and then high, until salt reaches desired temperature.

 

Cold Uses

 

Arrange thinly sliced beef Carpaccio or sashimi on a cool salt platter and serve. Watch as the food literally salt-cures while at the table, gently cooking the edges and bringing on just a smidgen of mineral-rich saltiness.

 

Freeze a Himalayan salt brick or plate for two hours. Remove, and serve up scoops of ice cream or sorbet on the plate.  More fun yet, warm lightly whipped sweet heavy cream, egg, honey, and aged bitters, and refrigerate. Remove the salt slab from freezer; pour mixture on it, slowly lifting with spatula, for a salt-tinged ice custard you will not soon forget.

 

Getting back to basics, just use it as a serving platter for butter, cheeses and dried meats. When used as a plate for moist food such as apple slices and mozzarella, the food acquires an enhanced salt and mineral flavouring.

 

Caring for your Himalayan Salt Dish

 

After each use, wash your Himalayan salt plate with warm water and a soft brush or green scrubby, and pat dry with a paper towel before setting on a drying rack. This will remove a very thin layer of the salt and make it ready for use again. Treated with care, a large salt slab will provide years of service! In addition, the powerful antimicrobial properties of the salt insure that it is always proper and ready for future use, with no need for detergents.
