Very rare specimen of Astrophyllite in it's common matrix of Felsic (a igneous rock mostly containing feldspar and quartz). These specimen are mined in the Kola Peninsula of Russia.
The name Astrophyllite comes from the Greek words astron meaning star and phyllon meaning leaf. The crystal habit of this mineral is often found in star like aggregates made of blades that radiate out. So it lives up to it's name origin of often looking like a star.
The cystals have perfect cleavage, so that it's very hard to extract from the matrix.
Colours range from brown to golden-yellow.
