1/8" to 1/4" around average size. Sold in packs of 6g (=30 carats containing 17 pieces in a pack average).

Alexandrite from Brazil: one of the rarest of gems, the color change from a bright light green to pastel violet/blue. This material is a mix of facet and cabbing rough, opaque to translucent to clean. Some stones are facetable or have facetable areas. But most are cabbing rough.

These stones are offered by the carat. One carat is about 3-4 stones, and each stone is between 3 and 5 millimeters long. Order by lots of 30 carats (50 pieces average).

For those that have always wanted to collect or facet some genuine Alexandrite, this is your chance! Though this material does not have the complete red to green color change of the finest gem grade Alexandrite, it does come at a fraction of the cost.

We have recently acquired an awesome lot of yellow to yellowish green Brazilian Alexandrite/Chrysoberyl Faceting Rough. This is some of the rarest rough around. Natural Alexandrite rough is nearly impossible to get as there is very little of it to be found anywhere, and a highly prized find. Cabs can sell for well over $150 per carat and faceted stones over $1,000 per carat. I honestly do not know when if ever I will ever be able to replace this rough once it is gone. We don't know how long we can keep offering alexandrite, but while we have it, we intend to share the wealth at the best possible prices. Alexandrite, a variety of Chrysoberyl when cut is exceptionally bright and is a good substitue for saphire as it as hard and has a higher refractive index. Alexandrite/Chrysoberyl is not usually very large and shapes are usually odd or clean. 4-6 carat rough stones are good sizes for this material, being pieces over 5 carats a collectors stone due to its rarity. Alexandrite is so rare and sought after this is still a real treat for a cutter to work with. The pictures of these stones are untouched as to color, only sharpened for viewing.
